Tip #29: Celebrate Accomplishments
Leadership experts Jim Kouzes and Barry Posner found that employees whose leaders celebrate accomplishments rate them 30 percent more effective, and report they feel up to 26 percent more engaged at work. How do effective leaders recognize and engage employees? They Encourage the Heart!
Here is a simple suggestion……say “thank you” more frequently. Practice this behavior with each team member at least once a day – recognizing something they have done to contribute to the high performance of the team. Try it for a week and reflect on the impact:
• Do you see a difference in our team member’s performance?
• Did it make the work enviornment more positive?
• Are their benefits for continuing this behavior everyday?
Think of other ways can you celebrate the accomplishments of your team members and recognize excellence.
